Cindy and Frank the day he became a "Master Earthdog"
Hello Everyone,
Cindy continues to do very well. I spoke with her neurosurgeon tonight and he is very pleased with her progress. She's still showing no signs of having vasospasms and seems to be recovering a little more of her memory each day, although it's in fits and spurts and still comes and goes from day to day. Dr. Gore (the neurosurgeon) said that it may take up to a year for her to get it all back. Evidently, when she gets out of the hospital, she'll need therapy for some time.
Thanks to all of you who have sent cards or flowers (you know who you are...yes, you). She enjoys the cards very much. Unfortunately, the flowers have to stay here at the house for now since they won't allow them in the ICU. They brighten up my dreary days, though, and I'm enjoying them until I can take them over to her when she's moved to a new room.
The nurse tonight was very informative and explained a lot of the details of what has gone on physiologically and what will be happening as Cindy's brain heals. She got on the computer in the room and brought up all the CAT scans so Colleen, Ernie, Cindy, and I could see the vascular workings of Cindy's brain, including the shunt that was inserted to drain off the blood from the bleed. Some of them were 3-D and could be rotated spatially. Dr. Roll (the radiologist who repaired both aneurisms) had already showed them to me, but I was glad the others, particularly Cindy, got to see them this time. It was really fascinating, cool stuff. The wonders of modern medicine!
Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers so she stays on this positive course.
