Cindy in the Olympic Rain Forest
Hello Everyone,
I was very late getting to the hospital again today since I had be at home so the cabinet guy could finish up the kitchen. There's just an odd item here and there and the project will be finished. Then comes the fun job of cleaning up a thrashed house. Can you say "dust and grit"? After he finished, I went out and bought some groceries, came home and put them away, fed the dogs, and then headed for the hospital.
Anyway, according to her Mom and Dad, Cindy had a pretty good day. They said she wasn't very hungry and didn't eat much, but she didn't have any headaches while they were there, either (which was most of the day). The speech therapist came by again and put her through her paces to jog her memory, and they said she remembered her address and zip code, plus her phone number. Later, the neurosurgeon came by, too, and said he thinks she's doing great. They still have her blood pressure bumped way up to about 160 since she seems to be on the verge of the vasospasms. However, the neurosurgeon said he doesn't think she's had any yet.
When I got there at about 5:00, she was pretty groggy and slept for the first couple of hours, but then a massive headache came on which made her pretty uncomfortable. The nurse was quick to give her something, but it took a while for it to take the edge off. When asked what she wanted for dinner, she said she wasn't hungry and didn't order anything. The nurse brought her a vanilla berry parfait and little plate of melon cubes anyway, but she didn't want it.
Colleen and Ernie came by at about 7:00, as usual, which gave me the opportunity to run downtown and deliver a CD of my work to a gallery to set up a show. When I got back, they had gotten her to eat the parfait and when I told her there was watermelon on the melon plate she slurped that right up (she loves watermelon)...so once she started, I just kept it coming until she ate it all. After that, we quizzed her about various things to give her memory a workout, but by about 9:00 she was starting to fade again so Colleen and Ernie left and I followed shortly thereafter. To give you an idea how her memory goes, when we quizzed her, she could remember her phone number but not her address or zip code, although she knew she was in Portland.
Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Steve, you are a really good blogger. I haven't figured out yet quite how to use it to communicate "full duplex" but I appreciate your good work. The picture selection is great. And the reports of real progress even better!
